As one that has lived in, Dabbling, and been worried about the world of art, in particular the art of painting, my love for that international has grown daily. My hobby and determination increased dramatically after seeing the collections of two museums in Bali, the Puri Lukisan Museum, and the Neka Museum.
The identity and individuality of each of those museums are actually reflected by means of their unique settings and extraordinary collections.
Through the good fortune, I experienced in the global of art, I actually have had the opportunity to gather paintings that I feel are complementary to and congruent with the collections within the two museums mentioned above. I started collecting artwork seriously in 1980, and the works I sought were those that have been an expression of the intensity of the artist’s sensitivity — paintings which moved me, and to which I felt a religious connection.
The collection consists of the works not most effective of Balinese artists, but also of Indonesian painters from islands aside from Bali, together with Affandi, Sudjono, Hendra Gunawan, Srihadi Soedarsono, Abas Alibasyah, and others. There are also works by foreign artists who drew inspiration from the natural splendor and subculture of Bali. Included are artwork by way of Rudolph Bonnet, Arie Smit, Le Mayeur de Merpres, Willem Hofker, Antonio Blanco, Theo Meier, Donald Friend, Hans Snel, and others
.I even have usually been greatly inspired through the paintings of Walter Spies and Raden Saleh and that they have been positioned in a special collection.
The accrued artwork is actually in a museum that has been given the name Museum Seni Agung Rai / Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA).
The Museum is to be managed with the aid of the ARMA Foundation, to maintain its continuity. One of the main goals of the inspiration is to hold and promote the arts and subculture, not most effective of Bali, but of all Indonesia.
In fact, what has been accomplished to date is the simplest beginning. Nonetheless, I desire that the status quo of ARMA will make a contribution to the treasuring of the humanities in the Ubud, Gianyar area, which is the center of artistic lifestyles in Bali.
Finally, I would like to take this possibility, on behalf of the founders and the board of the ARMA Foundation, to present thanks and specific mammoth appreciation to the government officials, the artists, and all the others who’ve assisted us inside the status quo of this museum. Of course, praise and prayers of way to almighty God, Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, as it best through God’s grace that what we estimated has been realized today.
