Gunung Kawi in Tampaksiring is situated in Banjar Penaka, within the Tampaksiring Sub-District of Gianyar Regency. This archaeological site features a stunning temple carved into the sandstone cliffs along the Pakerisan River, offering a beautiful and captivating view.
According to reports, excavations and research revealed the temple in an incomplete state, along with a Yoni phallus placed in the temple hall, which is considered sacred by the local community. The temple was constructed in the Pakerisan River valley, an area rich in water sources. Water is collected in a pond and flows through a channel to a shower.
Tirta Empul is situated in Manukaya Village, Tampaksiring District, at the upper reaches of the Pakerisan River. It features a sacred spring known as a petirtan and is home to the Pura Tirta Empul temple. This site is one of Bali’s premier tourist attractions. Other top destinations in Tampaksiring are also nearby.
